Imagine the joy and surprise of a wild bird resting for a moment nearby, allowing you to observe and delight in its presence. You ask yourself quietly, “Where are you from and where are you going?”

A bird’s freedom and surrender to this instant in time inspires awe and wonderment. This is what Jon Hazen, photographer and avid bird watcher shares with you in “Close Encounters of a Bird Kind.”

Jon’s images capture over one hundred Western Oregon birds that find shelter in and around the Willamette Valley National Wildlife Refuge Complex, of Baskett Slough, Ankeny and William L. Finley National Wildlife Refuges, and mid-valley backyards.

Map of the bird watching area.

Detailed descriptions and a map of these areas are provided with the birds’ names and locations where they were found. Restful and reflective music by John Doan accompanies this panorama of wild birds and pastoral views.

Take refuge in these images and music, and celebrate the splendor that is all around us.  Birds are everywhere for us to appreciate and enjoy.
